God Bless the hearts of children

Recommended Posts

My boys were looking at my scars yesterday and asked why I had surgery (like we hadn't discussed it a 1000 times, gotta love kids). I told them that mommy wants to make her belly smaller. The youngest said, "But, why mommy? You belly looks just fine to me." I kissed them both and just about cried. They are the reason I know I can succeed and my DH, of course.

Don't you love what comes out of the mouths of chidren... My son a dd were talking about my upcoming surgery and both said "mom we don't want you to have surgery again" ( I just had GB surgery three weeks ago) Then not ten mins later my ds got in trouble and turned real quick and said " I want you to have surgery!!" Like it was a bad thing..lol

My 3 and 4 year old know about the surgery after the fact, and like to check up on my "booboos". When the babysitter came over the other day I was in the kitchen talking to her, and my 3 year old son runs in and say "my mommy has really big booboos!!" When the first "boo" started coming out the shock on this woman's face was just priceless!!

My daughter is actually mad at me for not having a belly. She told me she was sad, becsude she couldn't play Hop on Pop (she'd stand on my belly and jump up and down. Although I can handle it, she might step on my port, so she isn't allowed too, besides she's 5 now, and a little big to stand on myu guts).

She said she also missed my belly for sleeping on, but she said she did like it that I play with her more now.:biggrin1:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
