Too soon for a NSV but get this

Recommended Posts

I'm 13 days post op and today I mowed the entire yard, then got on the tractor and helped my husband pull up trees and drag them off and then got on the 4 wheeler and went riding for hours. I'm so proud of myself. I've lost over 20 pounds in the last 3 weeks and lots of inches and it feels so good to do something besides sit in the recliner or lay on the couch. I can't wait to loose more weight.

Didn't want to sound bragging but after 3rd degree burns, neck surgery, foot surgery and being fat for 5 years and just existing and that's it I am finally among the living. Hope this continues and I don't backslide.

Thank you all for your encouragement it has been so helpful and for all of the wonderful birthday wishes yesterday. Lord, I'm 42, I'm getting old quick. LOL

My husband bought me a 1 carat solitare diamond ring for my birthday, he really seems so proud I had this done. He was really against it at first but he see's I'm really trying and he's been so supportive since we got back from Mexico.

Love you all, I know that the hard times are ahead, but we have to enjoy the good times while the very little times they exist.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
