Ok, My DH wanted crab cakes for dinner, knowing I could not eat them I made them for him and DD. Thought...hmmm.... I will bake a flounder for me and have some. OMG... I will never eat fish again. I don't know if it was too dry or what the hell, but I have never experienced anything like that before in my life. Thought maybe I was gonna throw up, oh no, couldn't be that easy, just a pain in my chest, eyes watering, spit coming up in my mouth... never again! I might go back to mushies...LOL!:faint:

Hi Melissa, My DH catches fish all the time and sometimes it goes down easy other times not. One time he cooked it on the grill and put lemon pepper on it....was great going down but, coming back up it was terrible. I have found the plainer the fish the better for me. No breading, no seasoning and lots of tartar sauce and it will go down and stay down. I make my own Tartar sauce with ff mayo and relish. Don't give up on that good Protein just eat it very very slowly.

I don't have problems with fish . . . so far. I can't do scallops because I can't chew them up well enough and they're kind of stringy. I can eat shrimp but it can be a bit tricky and must be chewed very very well. Other than that, no problem.

Sorry about your stick. I know how you feel 'cause I'll never eat scrambled egg again!

I had the same thing happen to me last week with fish. It was going down well I chewed and chewed then Boom it hit all of a sudden the pain, the feeling of sickness, I couldn't breath I actually thought I was going to pass out. Thank goodness it finally came up NO MORE FISH FOR ME.

This stuff is so interesting.

Fish is one of the few things I can eat without any worries of problems. chicken on the other hand - forget it - I won't even try it again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
