Candice1222 1 Posted November 21, 2011 Hello Everyone, My name is Candice and I came across this wonderful website a few days ago. I am schedule to have my sleeve on December 14th, 2011. I am having my surgery with Dr. Paul Macik. Here are my stats. Weight 276 Height 5'4 I am paying for my surgery. I started on the insurance approval process and soon realize that UHC was not going to budge as I am a seemingly healthy person. I went through the surgery clearance process and found out that I have asthma! It does not run in my family and I always assume that I was out breath because I was just overweight. So in some ways I am happy that I went the route of paying for the surgery myself and having to have a pulmonary surgery clearance. My question I have for everyone is how long did everyone stay out of work before going back? I work in a cubicle so it is not very strenuous. Also, how do you cope going back to work after this major surgery?
ProudGrammy 8,322 Posted November 21, 2011 hi candice :welcome: the main thing i know for sure, practically everyone is different, they have their own speed for recovering as quickly as one week onward. Some people i've heard are back to work in a week or so. Others not for a couple of months. Not real helpful, but true. Also different weight loss in different time periods for all. I guess the main reasons for the above are that all our bodies are different and react differently. BTW My DOS is 12/6/11, can't wait, very anxious and a little nervous. One thing the same for all, we are all nice, and we have one thing in common: so we love to talk about stuff, ask questions, and get answers. By the way a big hello to GA. My daughter just moved to Peachtree City.!!!! so i wanted to make sure to send a yell. kathy

Candice1222 1 Posted November 21, 2011 Hi Laura, It is nice to know someone else going through the same thing on the same day. I plan on being off two weeks. It is what my surgeon's office told me. I just hope it is enough time. My boss was very understanding and said if I needed more time off I could take it.

Oopsseedaisy 90 Posted November 21, 2011 I returned to work in a week and a half. I could have gone back sooner, but I was out of town for by father's 80th birthday celebration. I sit at a desk and only lift papers one at a time. Good wishes to all of you with December surgeries! 1 Bulldawgma reacted to this
