I'm Here In San Diego....tues Gastric Sleeve Surgery With Dr Aceves! Yea!

Recommended Posts

I remember being so nervous and excited all at once. Dr. A told me I had already did the hardest part, (making the decision and being there) and the rest would be easier. He was right about the surgery, it was so fast and smooth and the recovery too. I went back to work the next day after getting home and was up on my treadmill within a few days. I'm not sure I would call the learning to eat all over again easy but I only stressed over the surgery. You'll do great and they will take such good care of you. Whatever you want or need, they are right there for you. Best advise.....get up and walk as much as you can. It helped so much with the recovery. I walked all the time, when there wasn't someone in the halls to walk with, I would walk around my room or out to the parking lot. Just keep moving, no races, just stroll and you'll feel so much better, promise!

BEST of LUCK for a quick recovery.

Your date is finally here! I remember not too long ago, you were reading my post-surgery updates. Now, here I am 7 weeks out and feeling 100%. I'm down 23 pounds and haven't found a food yet, that upsets my stomach. Dr. Aceves even approved me for 1 cup/day of my beloved Starbucks Soy Lattes, as long as they don't give me acid reflux (they don't!) I think I almost missed coffee more than food over the past several weeks.

I found that I experienced all of my nerves prior to arriving in Mexicali. Once I got to the hospital and met Dr. Aceves, I felt remarkably calm through the surgery and recovery.

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

I remember as well and now the time has come. Glad your doing so well. Thanks for the support.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
