rlvalleau 0 Posted July 23, 2006 Happy Friday. I am new to this board, so I am looking for some advise. I have gone through all the pre insurance testing and everything was submitted to my insurance (Empire Plan-NYS) on 7/14. I got a letter today addressed to my surgeon stating the procedure would be approved but they want estimation of cost. Has anyone ever heard of this before??? I saw the letter and got all excited, and now I don't know where I stand. I will call the surgeon's office on Monday to follow up but just wanted to see if anyone here had any advise. Thanks! CCBSTX 0 Posted July 23, 2006 I haven't heard of this estimation of a cost before, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen! It sounds more like a car estimate You're approved. I wouldn't think an estimate would change that... Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!! Shawn
Irish Girl 3 Posted July 23, 2006 My approval letter was similar to yours. It said I was approved but the total amount they would end up paying would be determined after the surgery. They ending up taking care of everything except for the deductible and out of pocket. And sometimes, weight loss surgery aftercare isn't covered at the same percentages as regular medical visits. Congratulations on your approval.
