Which was the hardest

Recommended Posts

Out of all the changes you had to make ; sipping, eating slow, no longer drinking with meals, ect, which was the hardest to change and what are some things you still struggle with. Please let us know how long you have been sleeved.

Thank you.

I'm at 2.5 months out and my hardest change has been not drinking with meals and giving up diet soda.

Good luck! :)

i am 3 months out today!!! woo hoo!

the hardest change for me is avoiding sugar. i was a sugar holic....seriously. this is especially hard since most sugar foods are slider foods and go down really easy, with very little restriction. the second hardest is not drinking with meals. i was a big Water drinker with meals. i would drink about 2-3 glasses of water at a meal before, and now nothing. so that is very hard as well.

all of this and it is still soooooooooo worth it! :cheers2:

Not being able to get Enough h2o in and the mushy stage is not easy to find what likes to stay down.

Hi, I am 3 months out and I have done really well with all the changes that you go through on this journey. At least I thought I was doing really well until I was healed enough to start looking toward the munchy foods. snack mixes and bad carbs haunt me every day now and I am trying so hard to "just say NO". The surgery is great for not overeating at a meal, but in between is a whole different story. Don't let anyone tell you this is the easy way out! It takes strength and will power! Old habits die very hard!

God Bless!

Very hard for me to wait 30 min after drinking before I eat. Esp when I eat Breakfast out.....I used to enjoy the coffee WITH the breakfast....now I have to do one or the other. I have ended up most times bringing the coffee "to go". Still enjoying NOT being the fatest person in the Waffle House....lolol.....

I am nearly 15 months out and I still miss drinking with my meals :( ...today we had a birthday lunch at noon and then I had some errands to run and never got around to drinking anything, and literally didn't get to drink anything until after dinner which was around 6pm. This is not typical, but it happens occasionally. So yeah I miss eating and drinking at the same time :( .

Into the fourth month and combination of things. Eating slow the roughest as I sometimes on the go so much I don't have time to sit and revert to gulp and run. Now gulp run and pray for quick digestion.

Have an occasional sip with meals to wash down or breakfast not much you can do when you eat Cereal or oatmeal you need liquid called milk.

Now at point of wanting the occasional piece of candy or a cookie.

I just watch how much and my weight. As long as I fluctuate within range I am okay with being human.

I am only 4 weeks out, but my hardest is eating slow, and to not graze after a while to get in more food. The mental part of being done with so little food has hard for me - getting much easier lately, though. But I am lucky (unlucky?) that everything I eat goes down just fine. I can eat two scrambled eggs for Breakfast just fine, I can eat 1/2 cup of food in 15 minutes. I did not have any struggles like a lot of others have, so I think it's harder because I feel so normal, if that makes sense. I don't have to baby my sleeve (oh, I did at first, and I am still following the rules with soft foods) but I don't have any pain or discomfort. The only way I know I've eaten too much is if I feel food in my upper tummy/esophagus juncture so I've learned to stop way before I feel full. No pain or pressure, though, just a weird feeling for a while. I almost wish I had some kind of physical thing to remind me (shock collar, lol!!)

So, yeah...eating slow, and not going back for more. Getting over the portion adjustment.....

Giving up diet pepsi really sucked!!! I am 3.5 months out and still miss my diet pepsi occassionally. The not drinking while eating is kind of difficult but I do sip with my meals. My doc said it was ok if I needed something to wash things down, just don't drink a lot at meals. I would say another big change is not having ice cream that much anymore. I used to eat ice cream several nights a week. Now my hubby and I spend time walking the dog instead. Don't get me wrong though, these are really great changes and I love my new life.

Not drinking with meals and avoiding alcohol have been my biggest challenges. But, to echo everyone else, SO WORTH IT!

I am 8 weeks out today. So far everything has been quite easy for me, or atleast til last week. Tho I will have a few sips of Water with a meal just to soften it more than anything.

I am on vacation in New York and having a hard time getting enough food in to fuel me for all the stuff I am doing. Seeing as I do not get hungry I often forget to eat.

I will be home in a few days and be able to get back into a routine.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
