mamasez 9 Posted November 16, 2011 I am 4 weeks out from surgery. After sleeping a max of 7 hrs, the reflux / burning that's churning up into my throat wakes me up. My gut gurgles at that time like a mac truck and I feel the acid bubbling up. If I open my mouth, I can hear it in my throat. It's like having exploding Pop Rocks in my throat! Feels like gaseous foam bubbling up. Eating a couple of bites makes it subside for a VERY short time, but not for long. I take prescription Pepcid twice a day and use Gas X strips. Is this temporary (I hope) or a long term thing? Anything I can do to lessen this burning & gurgling? Thanks in advance!
JenniLee0628 3 Posted November 16, 2011 Hi there! I had the same thing happen to me. It is heartburn. My doctor told me to take prilosec and it ended up helping 100%! Also, when your stomack is growling like that you need to eat. It is your stomach telling you that you are hungry. Even if it isn't much eat a little bit and also take that pill right away! I had my surgery on October 4th and mine is finally clearing up.
mamasez 9 Posted November 16, 2011 Good to know, thank you JenniLee! Do you think taking Prilosec OTC in addition to my prescription Pepcid is ok to do? Thanks again!
Shae 44 Posted November 16, 2011 I would have to say no to doubling up on the acid reducer. You need some acid to digest your food. Switching does the trick sometimes. I am one who cannot take pepcid or prevacid or zegrid because none of them work for me. Only nexium 40 mg works for me. I would get with my doc and see if he can try you on a different one. He/she should have some samples so that you don't have to pay for something that doesn't work for you. Shae
