The insurance dropped the ball...

Recommended Posts

The insurance coordinator/surgery schedualer from my doctor's office just called me. She said my surgery would have to be moved from Dec. 6 to some time after the first of the year because the approval still had not came through. She said every slot from today through the first part of January was already filled with pre-approved clients. I was actually relieved. I have been stressed to tears for the last two days trying to get an answer out of the insurance. I knew I only had 3 weeks left until my date and I still had another Dr. Appt., a class, and my liquid diet; not to mention my fees which are $400 and non-refundable! When I told her it was ok, she was more relieved than I was. She said that she had been dreading it all morning because most people either cry or bite her head off. We looked the calendar over and decided on Feburary 14 for my surgery date. What a fitting day! Each year I can have my own personal Valentine-I-Love-My-New-Life-Surgiversary celebration. It is going to cost me a bit more, because I will have to pay my 2012 insurance deductible. But any who, I am going forward. It will just be a few extra weeks..:0P

Awesome attitude! I'm afraid I would be one of those who cry a whole lot.

Cheers to a very happy valentine's

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
