sheila5497 9 Posted April 28, 2012 I'm doing real good. I am 5 days postop and am still trying to figure out weather the feelings in my stomach are hungry or full. It is a different feeling now. I started at the hospital at 222 and gained 7 pounds in the hospital (all IV fluids). Today I am at 220.

sheila5497 9 Posted May 2, 2012 My Dr. Is Dr. Chastnet he is in Chesapeake. I really like him. Very personable, easy to talk to and stays very involved with the support groups. I think he is awesome!
thickchic 14 Posted May 3, 2012 I go to weight loss surgery center at mary immaculate hospital. Dr. Terricina is my dr. They are a WONDERFUL.AND SUPPORTIVE STAFF.
rdoactv 218 Posted May 6, 2012 The WLS center is great. Both docs there seem wonderful. I went for to the seminar there 3yrs ago when I have considered banding. Wish I could go there but I live in Richmond now. Im preop sleeve but feeling not so warm and fuzzy about my doc as he has only done 12 sleeves though he has much bariatric sx experience..oh well. Good luck. They do have a wonderfully supportive staff frim what I saw. My current doc...umm not so much. I feel like Im on my own and never know what my next step is...shrug. sheila5497 9 Posted May 6, 2012 If you don't feel comfortable with your Dr. Go with your instincts. Not having faith in your doctor can't inadvertently affect your recovery. You are right by doing research and it is ok if you decide to seek a different doctor. Just to let you know that the sleeve used to be phase one of a 2 step procedure and just recently gained popularity because of the success rate with just phase one and became approved as a single surgical procedure 5 years ago. That procedure was called the duodenal stitch. So if your dr has plenty of experience with that procedure then it might put your mind at ease. By all means you must feel comfortable with your dr. And it most certainly is ok to check out your options. I would suggest that you inquire about each dr. Infection, leak, and success rates. Also, find out how involved he is in the pre and post op support sessions and education. This will give you an idea of how knowledgable he is as well. Hope this helps. oscarmanny 4 Posted May 14, 2012 Newport News got sleeved on 5/8/12 don't kno if I'm hungry or full what should I be consuming
sheila5497 9 Posted May 14, 2012 Your dr. Should have let you know what you should be eating. I had to eat full liquids for two weeks and then soft foods for two weeks ( soft meaning anything that you can mash with a fork). Avoid Pasta, rice, and soft fluffy bread. Drink at least 64 oz. of Water and consume at least 60-70 grams of Protein (if your drinking your protein that can count as you Fluid intake for the day as well).
