I have to get cardiac clearance and have an EGD between now and surgery so I'm guessing it'll be the latter part of Dec..as long as it's this year because I met my ded and out of pocket,,plus the policy changes for 2012 and I don't know if they are covering bariatrics on the new one..so I'm not completely relaxed.lol Good luck, fluffylibra30!!

Guess with Veterans day the mail is moving slow......called Doc office and let them know, felt sorry for the poor lady after i got off the phone, i called her at 8:01 on Monday morning and was jabbering a million miles a minute............i was probably the first voice she heard this morning lol. She said doc would look over my file and call me this week with a date!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He better hurry :-)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I too have gotten my insurance approval today!!! I'm extremely excited and nervous all at the same time. It's taken me since the beginning of March to get this far and I go for my first doctor's appointment to discuss everything on Nov.23rd. It's going to be a long week until that time. I'm glad to know that several other people are in the same boat as I am. As for now I'm going to spend all my excess time until then reading everything I can about VSG surgery and everyone's blogs about it so I will be prepared for what lies ahead. I really would like to have my surgery before the end of the year as well. Looks like we'll have many december sleevers if all goes well !!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
