yesterday, a friend from high school called ME skinny--I busted out crying and freaked her out a little bit--but no one has called me skinny in thirty years

NEXT

my dad (bless his heart) doesn't see real good anymore--I walked into his living room the other day---and he didn't recognize me--when I said hi--he started laughing and told me he didn't know who I was--AWESOME!!!!

Thist could have been insulting, but I took it as a compliment.

I was paying at a checkout with a credit card and the girl asked for iD. When I gave it to her, she kept looking at me and the pic and finally said, "this isn't you, this lady in the pic is FAT!!"- So much for being subtle!!! : )

I get hit on constantly and that's the biggest compliment I could ever receive just because they are looking at girls who have been thin their whole lives as well. It's not just my friends comparing the old me to the new me, it's a fresh pair of eyes.

Besides having everyone call me "skinny" (which is not true- yet!) one of my faves was at the Y when I was talking to a friend and she said "I have to admit I've been checking out your bod- you look fabulous!" and we both cracked up since that is one of the few places in life that we all see each other naked but you don't exactly check each other out!

Only 5 days out...my mom comes in to visit me today and says, "Well, obviously you have lost weight!" I think that was her first compliment......EVER!!! :)

ditto on that!! The same thing happened to me today and I can relate ;0)

I had the "that's not you, the person in this photo is fat" response to an ID check at a store. I puffed out my cheeks and pushed my face up and out with my hands and asked "Is this more like it?", she laughed and said that I was looking good and congrats on the weight loss.

One of these days I'm going to have to get a new DL pic taken.

I walked into the room wearing a pair of jeans I hadn't been able to wear in, dare I say years?? I got an unprompted, "WOW!" from my husband! It was the best feeling!!

The other night my husband was waiting in the car for me outside a store and as I walked up to the car I noticed a puzzled look on his face. When I opened the door I asked what was wrong and he said, "Oh My God. I didn't know that was you walking up to the car!" :)

All of these are awesome! I love reading stuff like this. We have all come so far and I know how hard it is to be massively overweight and all the negative feelings that come along with it. We are all doing our thing, and we DESERVE TO FEEL OUR BEST!!!

Thank you to the original poster, this is an excellent idea. :)

I have had such a slew of compliments and most of them are all the same. Unlike Southern Sleever, I really don't get a lot of male attention. I mean, that's perfectly fine as I'm a very happily married woman. But, my husband is so amazing and he will not be shy about checking out my goods. I love that. I have to say those are always my most favorite out of any and all.

The second most I can think of was just the other day. I posted on Facebook that I wanted to go on a diet. In jest of course, I'm just a joker half the time. The responses are ones I've never received... ever before. I was basically told I need to eat a burger, and some fries... and a shake. Haha!! I thought they were funny - maybe a little rude but oh well. That's how my family is. :)

Keep em coming!!!

Today i went to the car wash. This Air Force guy totally tried to pick me up. He stayed talking to me for sooo long after his car was done. He watched me walk to my car and asked me for my phone number. My wedding rings are getting downsized so he didn't know I'm married. Still, he was great looking and it was a real confidence boost!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
