You are so Funny!

The only thing I have heard to help is gas-x..

Maybe it is the type of foods you are eating. Not sure where you are with your band?

Sorry your in pain-but just let them RIP

Are you eating anything with artificial sweeteners? I sort of leaned on sugar-free and no-sugar-added products in the first month or so after banding, trying to sate my sweet cravings. I never dreamed a human could suffer from such gut-rending, painful and odiferous gas. Folks on various boards suggested many things, but I'd read that certain popular sweeteners (Maltitol is the worst, for me) can cause bad gas and other problems in the general vicinity. I cut them out and was cured.

The other night I got cocky (and was craving chocolate) so I ate half a medium-sized sugar free chocolate bar. Within 90 minutes I was right back in the -- forgive me--saddle again, clutching my stomach for dear life and begging my poor husband for forgiveness.

Hope this helps---that kind of gas is NO FUN.

Sheila

Gas X did not work well/fast enough for me. I got Milicon liquid

for infants(I also got a generic called Infants Simethicone Drops). It is very fast acting and you don't have to chew or wait for the capsule to work. I intend to keep some handy at all times. My husband as tried it and also likes it.

Make sure you don't drink anything from a straw. That gave me awful gas after surgery!

Hey Big Dog,

I am home and feeling fine. Some gas here but not to bad. How long did it take for it to start. Maybe if I get ahead of it. Might not be so bad. I am with you just let it rip as they say better out than in.

I was thinking of starting the liquid gas stuff before they start. Let me know when to expect it please.

Very glad to be home and hope all your gas comes out soon.

Kathy

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
