Hello Guys

Sorry I haven't been around for a while. I was sleeved in late October and just took sometime away from work and everything to really prepare for this journey. You all have been my strength and motivation and I would have went nuts a looong time ago if I didn't have you all to lean on. Surgery went great and Im among the lucky ones as I have had ABSOLUTELY NO hunger. Im here to answer any questions for people prepping and im still checking in with all my vsg friends. Lovin the view from the losers bench.

Who did you surgery? I'm scheduled for Tuesday at Hartford Hospital, and very anxious about it.

Same question as Ian - my surgeon is Dr. Macaron from St. Mary's in Waterbury. Hoping for a date in January!

Thank you all guys, Im happy to be on the losing team! Ian, I actually work at Hartford Hospital so I know Dr. Tischler and Dr. Papasavas quite well. I chose to go with Papasavas just because of his exceptional bedside manner. They are both PHENOMENAL doctors, but Tischler is a little cocky and tends to talk over you. Im not working on tuesday, but if you need anything just inbox me and I can get it up to your room. Its good to have a little pull :ihih:

Thanks guys, it means a lot. Ian Dr. Papasavas is great. I was a little slow waking from anesthesia (great sleep) and he hung around until after 7 just to tell me how things went. He told me I had one of the smallest sleeves he had done and he was very proud of the work. I lost 17 on the ten day post op and 15 more after two weeks! it's melting off and NO hunger.

Congrats on your new tiny tummy! Welcome to the losers bench. Believe me, with all us skinny's here - there's always lots of room.

Keep up the good work!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
