hunydew2262 7 Posted November 12, 2011 Hello FionaB! Congrats and best wishes on your upcoming surgery. As a nurse, I'm always curious about the process in other countries. I'm sure you've read about the difficulties some of the members are having to get approved. How was it for you? Is the proceedure a common one in the UK? FionaB 1 Posted November 12, 2011 Hi Hunydew2262... You can't get any WLS covered by insurance here. Some people with the highest of BMIs can get it paid for on the NHS but they are few and far between! So far, I have paid £7000 for lap band, £ 5000 on 2 repairs and now getting band out and sleeve at a cost of £8500. I'm so bloody frightened right now... Got 6 hours to go!!! FionaB 1 Posted November 12, 2011 Hi coops... Well I almost shouted stop as the anesthetic went in. Boy am I glad I didn't! Can't believe how well Ihave come through it. Been back in my room for 9 hours and well up and walking about. I've not had any real bad pain and hope this is a sign of things to come. There doesn't seem to be an awful lot of people had the sleeve in Uk? I had mine done in the Spire Manchester by the brilliant PRofessor Ammori. Where did you have yours done? Best wishes..
