December sleevers!

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow shoppers,

I am beind sleeved on Dec. 13. Right now, I hate all my clothes and feel frumpy ! I just want to shop. I I know I only have a few weeks until my sleeve so I have to keep reminding myself to save my money. My problem is ....I went on a huge closet cleaning binge about a year ago and got rid of all my "smaller" clothes so now, I really will have to shop soon. I have been taking note of resale and Good will shops in my area.

I am soo excited for us! :woot: I can't wait to hear stories from the losers bench. Good Luck to all! My prayers are with you!

Well this is my first post on this site! My surgery date has been set for awhile now.. drum roll please (sorry I'm a music teacher).....

December 19 at Yale New Haven Hospital with Dr. Robert Bell.

I am still waiting on pins and needles for my insurance approval with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. I don't have to do a pre-op diet OR mandatory weigh-ins for six months according to my insurance and surgeon.

I think I'm more nervous NOT having to do the pre-op and the six month weigh-ins because I have this deep fear that things are way too easy and I'm just waiting for the ball to drop. I'm also praying that I'm wrong and that all will work out. I am not one to be patient so any words of wisdom to calm me down would be great!

I can't WAIT for this surgery. I've been overweight/obese my entire life with little spurts or extreme dieting and extreme exercise and there a huge weight loss, only to gain it all back again (and then some). Can't wait to go clothes shopping in my own closet!

Can't wait to be on the losers bench with all of you!

Tonya

Tonya aka Rainsong,

I am a teacher too! How long are you planning on taking off work?

I bought a few smaller summer dresses last summer at yard sales, we are talking dirt cheap so if they are too big/small they wont be a loss. I have been doing the 6 month doc visits so i new my appt was going to be Nov or Dec so i put myself on a NO clothes shopping rule. Dont know where you live Cutie 11 but most consignment stores LOVE getting plus size clothes. They rarely get any good stuff is what one lady told me. The thing with plus size clothes is people usually wear them out, cause it is so hard to find nice clothes that FIT. I have a lot of lingerie from Fredricks and LB (TMI?) that i am hoping i can sell on Ebay or Craigslist, so i can shop at Vickies Secret (YAY) So if your worried about all the $$$ for new clothes try that!. I already have some ironed creased and in a garment bag ready to go!!

Yeah, I've donated a lot of clothes to the thrift shop, just never bought from there. I donated 400+pieces at the beginning of the summer and about 100 a month or so ago. They are always excited to see me roll up. LOL

My problem is that I travel so much and always feel the need to buy in every city. I mean I'm on the road sometimes from Mon thru Fri, week after week and have accumulated a ton of clothes. I pack clothes then go to the malls in each city and buy things rather than sit in the hotel and watch TV. Now I plan to spend some of that time in the nice gyms that I never ever use, but I'm sure my closet will grow much faster now that I will soon be in smaller sizes.

BTW... I live in Durham, NC.

Making Changes:

That is my favorite Bible verse too and I will definitely be praying for you and all the December sleevers. My date is Dec. 14th with Dr. Bhoyrul at Scripps Hospital in La Jolla. I have to have a huge hiatial hernia fixed at the same time. I had Nissen Fundiplication surgery for GERD in 1999 and that surgery has completely undone itself. I was never sore after that (had the same 6 laparoscopy incisions), and never any pain meds or problems. I am praying for all of us December sleevers! Janet

Hi Roxy,

I'm going to be out one day the week before surgery (Monday December 19th) for my pre opt. I'll be off the whole week before Christmas Break then depending on how I feel, I may work a half day on Tuesday Jan 3rd. I have my post opt that afternoon.

Good Luck!

I have always walked by the Misses sections at the mall and joked that if I could fit into that size we would be broke. I may now get my chance to actually try on some of that cute stuff in a few months. I'm really excited but don't share that with anyone. My daughter asked me what store I wanted to shop in first and I said Victoria Secret. I have always just wanted to buy a sexy bra from them. I'll probably hate it when I can finally get one to fit. HA HA

I am getting so excited! I'm on day 3 of my pre op diet, so far so good. Not as hard as I expected, though ive been off due to the holidays. On the first day, we visited my in laws, and my sister in law made this huge meal and mother in law made homemade candy. They don't know I will be getting sleeved. I told them I'm trying a new liquid diet and they really tried to make me eat, even saying they were offended. My mother in law asked why I would even start a diet around Christmas. I was strong and did not give in! I'm proud to take the initiative to change my life, but I don't plan on telling anyone that I don't feel will be truly supportive. Now the real test is making it through work!! My coworkers think I'm having hernia surgery. Im just hoping Friday comes fast!!

Hi fellow December sleevers!

I'm so excited, just had to share...

I just received an email from my case manager (yes at 9:34 on sunday) stating that I should come prepared to schedule my surgery for the second week of December to my appointment Friday. She said have a plan in mind of what days that week may work for you. I wanted to respond and say EVERYDAY THAT WEEK, but I just politely said 'Thank you'. I'm really super excited now...moreso than before and just wanted to share with you all!

Have a great week everyone.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
