Any Other Gastric Sleeve Pre-op's Heading To Tijuana?

Recommended Posts

I am hoping to find others who are heading down to Tijuana for their WLS. Since making my decision it seems its all I can think about. I have even been having "skinny" dreams. I am excited. Nervous. Obsessed.

Anyone else headed south of the border? My surgery is scheduled for Dec. 17th with Dr. Jose Rodriguez through BeLiteWeight. I would LOVE to hear any feed back on any and every part of the experience I am getting ready to venture into.

Love all the posts here.... I wish each & everyone of you success.

Hey MissE! I am going to TJ through WeightLossForever to Dr. Pompa Gonzalez at the LIMARP Surgical Unit. I am getting my surgery on December 13th! My dad and my aunt have both been down to TJ for their surgeries and have had amazing results. I can't wait! Enough of this dieting. I would like to lose a bit of weight before surgery to get a jump start, but the thought of going on another diet (surely my 1000th) is enough to make me ill!

Awesome!! I am heading down there on the 17th of Dec. through BeLiteWeight. My doctor is Dr. Jose Rodriguez. I am so so so excited! I am with you on the frustration of dieting. The last one I tried (HCG) was enough to make a person consider some terrible form of physical punishment. It worked well enough.... however you were starving yourself with 500 calories a day... and the hunger headaches were awful.

I am wishing I would have scheduled my surgery sooner... I had the option of scheduling the week of Thanksgiving... I guess I thought one more Turkey dinner before the big change. Now I am obsessed with the thought of being thin. I can't get my mind to shift gears at all.

I wish you the very best of luck. Its great to hear that I am not alone on this journey. :seeya:

I just got back on Tuesday. My surgery was with Dr. Kelly and it went great. I was shopping and walking all over the day I got out of the hospital. It was the best decision of my life. Good luck to you.

Misse- dr rod is great!! My surgery was easy peezy- the only thing I didn't like was the bench thing my mom had to sleep on. If someone is going with you, be forewarned that their sleep at the hospital isn't great-

Oh! And when you go to the hotel ( if it's the same one) there is a street stand selling Mexican grub - the beef broth is great!! ( watered down a bit though- it was a little strong for my tummy but tasted fab!!!)

Good luck!!!!

I wish I was having skinny dreams! I am getting bigger it seems before surgery, so I am REALLY pre-occupied with that at the moment. I have been thin. not thin, thin and then not thin a million times over, and I don't think the reality of actually STAYING THIN has hit me yet! haha you're right, it is kinda exciting!!

Hey there, I am headed to TJ on Dec 4th, surgery booked for Dec 5th with Dr Ramos Kelly. I will be at the Oasis Hospital and then am moving to the Lucernia Hotel when discharged from hospital. I have heard from several people that his acommendations for his pts are great and being a Paramedic I have researched him and his practice followed his pts for several months now thru this blog as well as others. I had heard horror stories of the Mexico hospitals and alley way surgery rooms, but it seems almost everyone here has done their research, knows what to expect and once sleeved has been so good about posting what they are going thru and how their progress is going that it definitely has helped me to prepare both physically and mentally for the trip as well as the journey afterward.

I am sorry I will be going a different time but i hope to be as diligent posting as many of the others have been once sleeved. I wish you the best of luck !

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
