It is soooo odd throwing up a big slime ball! Sometimes I sneeze or get a runny nose instead or as well. I have only had the slimes about 5 times and I HATE it and avoid it at all costs. Oddly enough the flat bread from Subway has been the culprit 3 times so I don't eat that anymore. Other than that I can handle anything!

I am about 2 months out and we’ll I tried going outside the diet, huge mistake. I ate 1 gyoza and pain instantly. I felt nauseous and though it would pass. It hurt so bad I couldn’t walk, I havent threw up since the 2nd grade which is about 30yrs. And all of a sudden a huge glob of slime came up. I still felt like crap, I walked a tad and then pain hit again, I threw up more slime thinking I’d feel better NOPE. I could feel it coming again and my stomach hurt, I threw up another ball of slime and then finally the gyoza came up and instantly felt better. Definitely not worth going outside of the diet. Lesson learned, it was the worst experience EVER.

It's over production of mucus I think. It's gross. I've had it happen to me. It's the worst with cooked broccoli for me. I spit up for 20 minutes then eventually throw up a big ball of mucus. Lovely, I know but part of all of this lol

Omg [emoji50] I just experienced the slime. Is this the same as dumping. I ate too fast

No. Dumping is a different beast although personally I think slime is worse because of the chest pain. I've dumped once since my surgery in Feb 2022. I didn't puke or go to the bathroom but I wanted to throw up. It was mainly dizziness, rapid heart beat, hot flashes, and bowel discomfort. Slimies are more focused on your esophagus I feel and usually accompanied by puking.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
