yecats 109 Posted November 5, 2011 Hi Everyone, I recently have had a financial stumbling block with my sleeve surgery, with that said I have had to take a look at where the $"s are going . I am happy with the Dr. and coordinator I have chosen but in a personal message, not one but 2 people have told me 2 different prices for the same Dr. My question is can you work directly with the Dr. in MX or do they require you have a coordinator? The price of the surgeon and the total price varies as much as $1500. I realised that when they made reference to how much the Dr. will recieve. I do not plan on skimming on price of surgery , getting some shotty Dr. but $1500.00 over the cost of the Dr. for some good bed side manor is a bit much when I am pinching pennies. I am sure the coordinators do a great job but at what cost? Just wondering....
Brittanysiemens 3 Posted November 5, 2011 I wasn't aware going through a coordinator costs more than directly booking the surgery with the surgeons office?! :0 I hope not, I am seeing dr. Kelly on Monday morning (November 7th), when I called alighterme I was already "sold" on Dr. Kellys track record and needed little hand holding.
kemo46 82 Posted November 6, 2011 The price should be the same. Something does not sound right. I had my surgery in Mexico as well. I have sent you a PM.
Shoppingbeemom 31 Posted November 6, 2011 I had my surgery in Mexico as well. I had a reduced rate from the average because I went at a discounted time.

TheSkinnyCow73 72 Posted November 7, 2011 I just found a $550 price difference between two coordinators too. One considers me a "revision" and the other doesnt. Where is this extra $550 going? Something my current coordinator didnt tell me until I questioned the price difference (and was told up front by another coordinator) is that they charge 3% on credit card usage. First I had heard of that and I have been dealing with my coordinator for over 3 months now! That extra $$ means alot when you are looking at spending right up to your last saved penny and is something that I feel should have been told up front when I was asking about the payment options, etc.! ANGEL86 0 Posted November 7, 2011 who are they coordinating for.?
oknev 4 Posted November 11, 2011 Be careful! Thought I was going thru the Doctors office but was scammed! It was a coordinator who bought the doctors website! He took my deposit and then his number was disconnected! I am sure he has a new website somewhere!!
Kimmes 38 Posted November 11, 2011 I used Dr Kelly and went directly with Trish who is on site in Mexico and offices right in the hospital where surgery was preformed. She met me at the door - and was there for me the whole time. She coordinates/schedules for several surgeons now. Her website and contact information is www.wls4betterlife.com
SouthernSleever 228 Posted November 11, 2011 It's so worth it to use a coordinator at least in my experience. I used Nina with Dr Aceves and she answered all my phone calls, got in contact with Dr A whenever I had a question and got RIGHT back to me. With the slew of questions I had post op her work was invaluable.
lala30 0 Posted November 12, 2011 Trish doesn't work with Dr Jelly he told me this on the phone! I'm not sure who his coordinator is or if he even has one currently

gottago 3 Posted November 12, 2011 Dr. Kelly is great! He does have a coordinator. Most of the doctors do have them. I just came back from a visit with him. A Lighter Me are still his coordinators and the on site coordinater is Sara. She is very sweet! Trish no longer works with Dr. Kelly. Sara is very nice and takes care of everything while you are in the hospital and the hotel. Of course Dr. Kelly is in charge of your care but Sara is a great friend and a great help! We were very satisfied with Dr. Kelly!
Suzannesh 376 Posted November 13, 2011 Hi, I have been replying to posts on these boards for over 3 years now. I have a little experience. PLEASE think about what I am going to say. First of all I would NOT work with any coordinators. If I could not work directly with the doctors patient coordinator that tells me someone else has the hand in the money jar and I am not willing to pay for any thing like that. I went to Doctor Aceves and Nina his patient coordinator gave me straight answers to everything and everyone is told the same price each and every time you talk with her. She gets NOTHING extra but her salary that she is paid. Please be carful of this situation. YOU want the very best you can have when it comes to your health. It is not a time to "price shop." Ask all kinds of questions, check where you are having the surgery? A hospital with state of the art equipment or just a clinic that sends you some place else to recover? And what is their infection rate like--they won't tell you, but you can do a little research and find out sometimes. How many sleeve surgeries have they done? Will you get a detailed report from them telling you exactly what they did, what equipment is guesed, what kind of stapeles are they using on your stomach? Lots of things to think about. I wish you great success. Suzanne Lost 105 pounds.
