I was advised to contact my Dr. if I had worsening shoulder or neck pain. Probably just gas but it could be signs of a leak.

bayarea, Sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk. What I initially thought was gas pains turned out to be pain from my over-filling my sleeve with liquids. I was walking like crazy to try to pass the gas pain and drinking a bottle of Water at the same time when it dawned on my what it was. Drink slowly, small sips and give yourself some time in between the sips. Do NOT guzzle...that causes pain. Walk more than you think you need to because it helps with the pain.

If following those instructions don't help, then call your doc's office, but I bet you'll be fine. You may also want to consider some kind of gas reducer like tums, prilosec, etc, if your doctor allows it or will tell you it's okay. Tums helped me once I was a couple of weeks out from surgery.

My doctor told me that I could have that due to the gas of blowing up my chest cavity for the surgery. He told me to put a heating pad on it as they would provide some comfort. It's worth a try!

I hope it goes away for you soon!

I was told that the leftover gas will float up and take the easiest route which lands it up in your shoulder. I didn't experience this so much with my sleeve surgery but instead with my gallbladder surgery about 3 years ago. I was told this time if I have problems to take Gas X. What I did have trouble with was feeling terribly bloated and uncomfortable around my waist area and Gas X did not help. I would just call your doctor and let him know. Then he can tell you what to watch out for and when it may become an emergency. Sorry, I'm not much help.

I was told that the gas used to blow up the belly often irratates a nerve that goes up to your shoulder and neck. The first week the gas is still trying to escape. After that it should feel better but as stated before call your docs office and ease your mind

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
