Hello, I'm new to all this!

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am fairly new to this. I had my Sleeve done on Oct.26th, 2011. Starting weight was 250, weight day of surgery 236.Today's weight 225! Hardest thing for me so far has been crushing the pills & mixing them them to get them down, but I'm learning! Hopefully it won't be long and I will be off most meds!!! I'm on a regular liquid diet for 2 weeks, then progressing from there. I have read some of the posts on here & they are quite helpful. I have high blood pressure, diabetes, bad knees & a bad back. I'm praying with the weight loss some of these issues are resolved! :yesnod: I look forward to meeting new people that have gone through the same.

HI Doreykin,

Today I came home from my surgery. I understand where you are with this all being new. I had never posted about myself and have learned to gain support from folks on this site. Tiffikins and LilMissDiva share a lot as do several others. I really appreciated the research from Tiffikins and that helped me on my journey. You will find real experience is the best help. Keep reading and going to the different sections like yea cats suggests.

Hang in there and best wishes.

Sandy

Hi! I just joined today myself. I had my first consult appointment November 7, 2011. Been in the process of gathering the last 5 years of medical history, got a note from one doctor for the 6 months of consective supervised weight loss, and the psych consult. Monday Nov 21 I will have my nutritionist consult and meet again with the weight loss doctor on Dec 1. Then the process of getting everything submitted to my insurance and hopefully have an approval soon after!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
