Sparkles01 0 Posted November 2, 2011 I am starting the sixth week since I was sleeved. I am still on the last phase of pureed foods before I can go to solid foods. My stomach only seems to hold 1/2 cup on a very good day but on most occasions less. My question is: does my stomach capacity get any larger than that without stretching it? I have read where some say that they are at full capacity now. What is full capacity?
MeMeMEEE 206 Posted November 2, 2011 I will be 3 months out next week and my NUT told me capacity right now is around 1/4 cup of dense foods.
NikiS 31 Posted November 2, 2011 I too am 6 weeks out but I am no longer on mushy foods. In fact, I never really did them. Bad right?! It was easier for me to do the greek yogurt and eat fish (talipia). I tried puree-ing meats and...yikes! Anyway, in answer to your question, I was told at some point I would be able to consume 6 oz comfortably, but this would take some time. Now for the crazy part, at 3 weeks out I could eat the entire 6 ozs of Chaboni Greek Yogurt - go firgure. I even told my doctor this and he told me yogurt is a slider food. It goes through the new stomach with ease. The 6 ozs that I'll be able to eat will/should be a meat (first) vegetable combination and I'll probably be around 9 months out. Keep in mind, each doctor is different so some people may already be able to eat 6oz with ease.
M2G 1,836 Posted November 2, 2011 I'm one year post-op and I still eat between 4-5oz per meal or less. I tend to measure my dense meat at around 3oz and then fill in with an ounce of veggies or "other" stuff. My advice to everyone is to always underfill, no need to get in MORE as long as you are meeting your Protein requirements!

My advice to everyone is to always underfill, no need to get in MORE as long as you are meeting your Protein requirements! Hi - First off, congrats on your success. Totally terrific. My surgery isn't til 12/6/11 - so excited, can't wait!!! My fear is that I will eat too much, stretching my stomach out , gain weight, making the whole surgery worthless.!! My intent, is to eat even less than necessary for a bit til i become more confident with myself that I won't be as afraid that I might gain weight. I can't wait for my new life to begin as a healthier, happier person. Can't wait to be able to bend over to pick something up without huffing and puffing. Same as walking. Totally can't wait to buy off a regular clothes size, instead of buying 2-3x in plus sizes. God grant me patience, just hurry up about it!! Ellie4me 1 Posted November 2, 2011 Funny just this morning I was able to eat 6 oz of Light f/f yogart. I couldn't believe it. I ate it real slow while working and it went down so easy and without any problem. Yesterday i could only do a few bits of cottage cheese. At first I kind of panic because I'm less than a mth out and wondered how I could do 6 oz then I just figured it must be a "slider" food. Im still on mushie so don't know what meat is like but glad to hear that my sleeve isn't huge. lol
