Recommended Posts

:help: I just got banded on 7/17 and I want to know if any of you have experienced twitches or jumping sensation around the area of the port???? It feels kinda like if there were lots of gas moving in there, and for those that have been pregnant it feels like when a baby is kicking. It's not a very pleasant sensation right now, since I'm still sore and its been happening to me all day long yesterday and today. Also, why am I so cold???? I wear pajamas, long sleeves, socks and go under the covers and I cant seem to warm up. Please let me know what it is and what to do. THanks!!!!!

LOL yeah, my port area twitches. Makes me crazy. Sometimes I'll just be sitting around and it will twitch and I will have pain. Its frustrating, but there is not much you can do about it. Mine has gone away for a day or so now.

HI;)

If it's gas try some pepermint tea and a hot Water bottle it help me get ride of my trapped gas. Using your pain relief helps too. :crutch:

I must admit it is a weired feeling but it soon goes, hope this helps.

Grats on being banded :)

On the twitch, your port is sewn to muscle so it is possible that the muscle is spasming a little, it should go away. If it is worrying you call your doc, as for the temp thing, your body is healing and is possibly putting all it's energy into that rather than temerature equalization, also, when I am dehydrated I feel that way sometimes, then I start downing the Water. Take your pain meds as needed, get lots of rest and sip sip sip.

This is what I experienced and I agree with waterlily....it's probably the muscle adjusting to the port. I told my DH it felt like being pregnant so I know exactly what your talking about. It does pass. Sorry can't offer any advice on the temp thing. Good luck!!

That's happened to me, too...it IS a very weird feeling, although I kind of enjoyed it! Only because I know I'm not pregnant, though!! But you're right, that's exactly what it feels like, and I can even see my abdomen move sometimes like a baby moving. Only happens occasionally and scared me to death the first time it happened!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
