BenisaMartim4 369 Posted November 1, 2011 What happens if you happen to start your period when it is time for your surgery? Do they make you reschedule or does something like that even matter? My surgery date is Dec. 6. I usually have my cycle sometime during the first part of the month. Has anyone had any experience with this? Or do y'all think this is a non-issue? Felicia 28 Posted November 1, 2011 That shouldn't be an issue, I have had many surgeries during my period. They make you wear a HUGE pad and meshy undies. Every doc is different tho, but I don't think it will be a problem. Maybe just a little weird for you is all.
VSGme 4 Posted November 2, 2011 Its looking like I'm going to have the same problem, and I was wondering the same thing!! So glad to hear that it shouldn't be an issue
Felicia 28 Posted November 2, 2011 Just remember these surgeons have seen it all, you on your period is nothing new. During my eye surgery the hospital was actually happy I had my period because then they knew for sure I wasn't pregnant. LOL. They usually will not let you wear a tampon because if something happens while you are under I guess they don't wanna mess with having to take it out or anything. I think that is weird but every surgeon prefers you do things their way.
Chimera 644 Posted November 3, 2011 I have thought of this as well - I suppose the pad is a good thing, I can't imagine trying to bend over and change a tampon right after a vsg procedure, that sounds painful lol.
