Recommended Posts

:help: I just got banded on 7/17 and I want to know if any of you have experienced twitches or jumping sensation around the area of the port???? It feels kinda like if there were lots of gas moving in there, and for those that have been pregnant it feels like when a baby is kicking. It's not a very pleasant sensation right now, since I'm still sore and its been happening to me all day long yesterday and today. Also, why am I so cold???? I wear pajamas, long sleeves, socks and go under the covers and I cant seem to warm up. Please let me know what it is and what to do. THanks!!!!!

I dont know much about the port because I havent been banded yet. But when ever I fast food and just do liquids I usally feel cold. That could be it but I dont know. However everything I have been reading tells me you should contact your doctor about how you are feeling. Better safe then sorry. Best of luck to you.

OMG,

I told my husband on day 5 that I feel something that feels just like when I was pregnant and the baby kicking. He's fixed and I am not and we have our first granddaughter and he was like, ummmm, you better not be. It was funny but I had that exact same feeling.

Not sure about the cold feeling, but I have and still do experience lots of gas in my belly.....If it becomes bothersome, ask your doctor if you can/should take GASX. That stuff has saved my life a many of days!!!

I was also banded on 7-17-06. I still feel the gas that you are feeling and everyone tells me that is normal. Like last night it was really bad and really uncomfortable, I just took 2 gasx and everything was fine. I don't know about your being cold though maybe you should call your doctor and see if it is normal?

I was banded on 4/10/06 and I had the same pain and sensations. It really is like a baby moving around! I found that I had more discomfort when I would move from one position to another. It did eventually go away, but it took about 2weeks to be completely gone.

Hey, thanks for all the input guys. My gas problem has slowly resolved, and the cold my doctor said it was because I wasn't getting enough calories in my liquid diet. Now I'm on Mushies so I feel lots better. I'm just now trying to get used to the 3tbsp each meal. Boy!! that seems like such a tiny portion!!!! I'm not hungry, tho'.. just trying to adjust my eyes to this kind of portions. Well, thanks again for all your input!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
