Meli 1 Posted October 30, 2011 When were you able to shower after surgery? Anything unexpected that you faced right after surgery?
Oopsseedaisy 90 Posted October 30, 2011 I did not shower until I got home. The IV was in my arm until right before I was discharged. I was really ready for surgery and can't think of anything unexpected. Did you find Lil miss Diva's list of things to bring to the hospital? Best of luck on a speedy recovery. Remember to sip, rest, walk and repeat.
gracemarie 6 Posted October 30, 2011 Most important bring 1 if not 2 of your bed pillows from home, it makes a world of difference. Don't really bring 2 much, I never opened my books. You are mostly just going to sleep, walk in the hall and back to sleep.
Gaylebco 11 Posted October 30, 2011 I ended up being very sick form the Lortab and basically stayed in the bed till they discharged me the next morning. I got the iv out and went home. I did wash up at the sink right before i left but one of my sites was slightly bleeding. I took a shower after i got home
his2my2our4 120 Posted October 30, 2011 I didn't shower until I came home either. I had packed things like a things to fix my hair, a little make up, a book and my ipod. I used none of it! Take the time to rest and when you're not resting you'll be sipping or walking. Good luck to you!!!
Sassygirl06 962 Posted October 30, 2011 yeah, same here..showered when i got home. you arent allowed to take a bath until your steri strips come off. the main advise is to walk walk walk. it makes you feel better. takes the pressure off that tummy. good luck tomarrow! skinnynursebetty 23 Posted October 30, 2011 My surgery was on Thursday and I went home from the hospital on Friday afternoon. I only brought my toothbrush, hairbrush and a few magazines which I actually read one of. The first day I was mostly out of it and slept a lot and watched some TV. The second morning I was up early and went for a walk and brushed my teeth and read my magazine, then I went home! I showered when I got home also and it was much nicer than the hospital. I guess it just depends on how long you stay! Good luck and speedy recovery!
