I am also a slow loser. And I have hit a stall for the last month. I know the surgeons that do our surgery set a goal for us. I believe that everyone is different and we all will eventually get to where we need to be, just some of us at our own pace. I am looking at this stall as a time to work out so that my skin does not become too saggy with such rapid weight loss. Everything happens for a reason. This is my reason. I know it will pick up again. Have faith in yourself. Go back to the basics if you need to. Make sure you are having your 55 grams of Protein, start your day with a Protein Shake, have your protein first before anything else and drink lots of Water. I got a little off the plan and am getting back to the basics.

I stalled for about 4 weeks right about the same time as you. Don't worry you will start to lose again. Just keep at it.

So...from what I gather even we so called "slow losers" average about 10 lbs per month? Yeah, we should be very upset. Before surgery we were losing how much per month?

Wow I must be ultra slow, i only lose about 4 to 5 a month. I lost most of my weight the first month.

I had my surgery last April. Since my pre-op diet I have lost 85 lbs. I have another 40 to go. Since my 3rd month I have been averaging 4-6 lbs per month. According to my Doctor, I am AVERAGE. I eat about 900-1000 calories a day with 70-80 grams of Protein. I stay around 60 carbs per day. My nutritionist said my numbers were great and I should be able to continue the 4-6 pounds per month until I reach my goal.

I think that we read about those who lose 100 pounds and are at goal within 6 months and think that is the norm. I have come to find that it is not true. I believe it is particularly not true for women who are older (40 plus) and who have had a history of losing large amounts of weight in the past and then gaining it back. We have programed our bodies to hold on to the weight by any means possible.

So, to my fellow slow losers. Take heart! Keep doing the right things and the weight will come off!

thank you everyone for all the support on here! Is great to know that there are soo many people on here going thru or have gone thru the same thing. Non-sleevers wouldn't really understand what we go thru. So thank you :)

It is hard to keep from comparing ourselves to others on this forum,,, I know it is cause I do it!

I have to constantly remind my self that one year ago I was a 330 pound woman ...no matter how slow I am losing now, I still am losing, I need to be happy with that.

Good Luck to all of us "losers" slow or not, we are heading in the right direction!

Thank you to EVERYONE who posted on this thread!!! I can't express how encouraged I am. A slow loss is STILL a loss, and I am going to start looking at things from a more postive perspective :)

Hey Guys,

I'm 32 and a "slow loser" as well. I was sleeved almost 8 weeks ago and have only lost 25 pounds post op while people sleeved around the same time lost that amount the first week. I started to get depressed (seriously) about it but for the last 3 days I've been like whatever. I've been strict with the Protein shakes for Breakfast, meat/fish and brown rice or veggies for lunch/dinner and snacking on fruit or cheese. Keeping my calories between 600-700, and carbs under 40, but I'm OVER IT I mean if I want a slice of pizza or a piece of cake I'm going to have it. So for the last three days I've up'd my calories to 900-1000, and kept carbs under 100 and finally the scale moved 3 pounds lost!!! I know there is a big carb debate but this change is working for me. Anway at the end of the day, whether fast or slow the weight will eventually come off.

Well, Good Luck to you!!

But no way am I going to up my caloric intake and start eating cake and pizza. To me, that is getting back into bad habits again. I'm following Dr.s orders and keeping myself at 550 calories and eating my Protein first, then veggy's then some starches IF I'm still hungry.

I also upped my exercise. Maybe that will give my body a jumpstart. I know at the calories I am eating, something has to give.

Best of luck....

Hi Sleevers,

I am six months out and have lost 111 pounds and I have slowed down alot. I am trying to stay positive. In my mind I think every pound I lose is one more day in my life I have worked on so hard on saving. I am feeling great the best I felt in years. Sometimes I get mentally tired because it is a challenge everyday to make the good food choices because of everything that is out there. This week was by birthday and we went out to lunch at my favorite Japanese Restaurant, I order what I wanted to a few bites and I was done. I do deny myself my cravings, I usually take a bite to satisfy the craving then I am done. If you deny yourself it make you crazy. On that note my sleeve is still sensitive so I know what it can tolerate. So I am careful. I want to say this surgery is the best tool out there and I wish I had done it years ago. Congrads to all my fellow sleevers on there great weight loss.

Not all of us. I'm one month out. I've lost a total of 7 pounds in a month. UGH...

And that was on 450-600 calories a day. Doc told me to up my calories to 1000-1200 a day. I'll try for 800-900 of healthy foods. I can't do more than that.....we'll see...........

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
