New to forum...been looking online for something like this, sooooooooo glad I found yall!!

I had my VSG on Oct 12, 2011, 15 days out and feel great!! I had some serious doubts on days 1-3 but things gradually got better as all those before me said they would.

I never thought I would be so happy to puree up a can of Soup, glad to be out of "liquid" stage, very curious how I will handle "real" food.< /p>

I am currently on a little stall...I was happy to see that I was not alone and that this to will pass, just stick with the plan and quit beating up the scale!!

A little background, I have had "weight" issues pretty much my whole life as far as I can remember. I have yo-yo'd my weight over the years fairly substantially.

I had a stroke in June of 09, thankfully have had a full recovery. I lost some weight after that ordeal, but since have put it all back on +.

My primary doc pointed me this direction and my journey began...I have lost 35lbs so far and like I said, feel great and looking forward to progressing to "real" food!

I have 2 young daughters and look forward to spending as much time with them on this planet as I can!!!

Look forward to the info on this forum and providing any info I can!!

Congratulations! I hope to join the ranks of the successful and have a good story to tell. I am getting ready to reapproach my doctor and hope to shorten the discovery period, and getted sleeved. I hvea a son to rais and want to be a bigger part of his life. It is hard when you cannot breathe and your knees and feet hurt too much to play.

Good luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
