Quick Question! (EXCITED AND NERVOUS)

Recommended Posts

My Surgeon subbmitted everything to the insurance company yesterday and told me that I will hear back within 7-10 days! I am completly nervous and anxious about the approval or not. My BMI is 43, I am 17 years old and I weigh 294. I turn 18 in 2 months and I am planning on getting it done in December once i Turn 18. I did all of the testing and got all of the paperwork and requirements they wanted.

I was just wondering if Medicaid UHC Community Plan - Has a high denying rate or not?

Should I have my hopes high or not?

When people meet the requirments, do they still get denied?

im a nervous, anxious person begging to find out my ASNWER NOW!!!

I have no clue about your insurance company since I was self-pay. I just wanted to say congrats to you for starting your journey while you're still young! You will be amazed at how much better you feel with the weight gone, and your life will be so much more enjoyable as a thin person. I wish I'd done something so much sooner, rather than enduring years of obesity. Good luck on your journey!!!

Hi Kendall Ann!

I think we may have started at about the same. My highest was 315 bmi 43, before surgery I was at 277 today I was 267 and I'm 5'9" my goal is about 170. My surgery was oct 20, 2011. I also have uhc I didnt have any problems with getting approved after I met all their requirements. I was approved in about a week. If you are dying to know you can call the insurance company and ask about the status of your approval that's what I did and I knew before the surgeon's office. Congrats and I'll save you a space on the looser's bench!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
