Surgery was Oct 17. 5 days post-op I did a Cancer-walk that was about 1 mile, plus walking to and from the car that was parked about 2 1/2 blocks from the event site. It felt good. Now I'm walking about 1 mile each time, and I try to do it in the morning, and then in the evening when I have someone with me who can help with my dog so he can walk too.

**WHICH ONE OF THE 5 is considered the main incision?? When did u guys walk around the block distance?? I'm five days out and I go up and down 14stairs at least twice a day and a lap around big backyard once to pick up after dog. Is this enough??? Btw, I've only lost 5 lbs in five says so I'm doing something wrong, no?! Lots of questions... Please answer.... Thanks

My main incision was on the upper right side of my abdomen. It was also the largest and has taken longer for the pain to subside.

I was up and out of that hospital bed doing laps within 2 hours of surgery. I was the only patient while I was there that ever was up walking....and thus I was first released! I make sure that I walk every day whether it be a trip around the grocery store or a walk up and down the road. I don't measure it, but I do make sure that I'm doing it. I'm 27 days post-op and have lost 15 pounds since surgery (I had a 12 days stall in there too).

You obviously don't want to push your body too hard, but you do want to push it some so that you get your strength and stamina back. Listen to your body and do what you can.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
