Grapefruit. I don't know why. I eat it every single day, and I drink a grapefruit-flavored drink from Wholefoods--I really don't know what's gotten into me about the grapefruit thing! LOL I did like it before surgery, but I didn't eat it all that often. Now I get a big tub of pre-sectioned grapefruit in juice and keep it in the fridge--I've gone through about 8 of those huge things of grapefruit since surgery! I guess it's a Vitamin C or potassium thing or something; at least it's a healthy and low-calorie craving.

I am 10 weeks out. I am constantly craving mustard, vinegar and diet Pepsi. Separately that is. What are your cravings? Past or present.

Immediately after surgery I craved for fried rice. Recently integrated mustard into my meals again and discovered it has a whole new flavor for me now. While not a craving, but before surgery splenda tasted like a chemical, afterwards it tastes just like sugar.

I find that I still have a sweet tooth. :( I think about the pies that will be around during the holidays nearly every single day. lol Luckily my will power is pretty strong and I find that the craving passes quickly.

Three Muskateers was my sin. Just thinking about one made me crave it, but now it and other sweets don't even remotely phase me.

Yesterday I craved a filet o fish so bad so I went and got one sans bun. It didn't go down very well though and I felt sick. I think I'll get some plain fish at the store to fix, maybe dip it in some parmesan before cooking.

i rarely get cravings except for tom and always have been that way and there had better be some chocolate in the house!!!

except post-op i was soooo afraid to eat it. i was so scared and still am of milk chocolate. hated dark pre-op and now i love it. haven't tried to eat milk chocolate for fear of getting sick because i heard horror stories about people getting sick on sweet stuff, so i stayed away from it for almost 6 months. but i love love love some dove dark moments!! those things are heaven!

and just to think i use to buy the big bags of moments at costco and throw out the dark ones. LOL

About a week or two after surgery, I had an intense salt craving, it was so bad that I licked a parmesan garlic chip (did not eat the chip, just licked the flavor off); I still crack up when I think about it. My main cravings are diet pepsi and chocolate chip with walnut Cookies (oh, in my mind they would taste so good!). Anyway, I just think of my Water as my replace diet pepsi now...ah so good! LOL

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
