Well today is Friday, I just had my operation yesterday afternoon. Things are going good but I am really sore due to all of the gas in my stomach. I paced the halls here at the hospital last night and that has really helped. They just brought me my Breakfast which consisted of Jello, broth, and juice. I have already finished it all. The worst part of all of this has been not being able to gargle to wet my mouth. I will be going home on a few hours. Thanks to everyone on here who have read and replied to my earlier topics. Yalls advice has really helped.

Congratulations! Hope things go smoothly for you and that hardest part is over now. It's always good to get home to your own place. Don't quite understand why they won't let you gargle, but I suppose they have their reasons. Believe it or not, I'm jealous of your Jello. My doctor says no jello the first three weeks after surgery!?!

I am loving the broth! ahahah

Today (3 days post op) I had a bit of yogurt. It took me 1 hour to get down 125mls of it. This is hard work!

I am able to keep everything down. It's hard for me to drink anything since my stomach is so tight due to all of the gas. Walked around the block earlier. Walking really helps relieve some of the gas pressure. Does anyone know any other ways to get rid of the gas?

I am walking a bit too and that really helps with the gas. I am finding it hard to drink too. A sip just a bit too big gives me intense sternum pain!

Well today has been ok. I think that I have 95% of the gas out of my system but I was sore this morning. My lower left side has been giving me some problems. I am able to drink at minimum 64 ounces of Water now. I get hungry every now and then but it usually doesn't last long. I am going back to work tomorrow night, actually thought I could have went back last night but since my note says Wednesday, Wednesday it will be. I have not verified this yet but I should be under 200 lbs by now. I was 200 on Sunday. The only thing that I have noticed is that when I go outside I seem to get hot quick and start sweating. Oh well guess I will have to retrain my body. Hoping to get on a scale tomorrow afternoon since we don't have one here at home. Will keep everyone updated.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
