Hi, I had my surgery on October 17th in Buffalo NY. My surgeon was Dr. Pham from Synergy Bariatrics. I have to say that my hospital stay was different then I nexpected. Private room, bathroom. The staff was exceptional.

Right now I am 4 days out and still having bad spasms. The pain is pretty much gone but the spasms are a real trip. The bad news is when I get on the scale I still have the 7 lb weight gain I brought hoe fromthe hospital which seems unreal since all I have been taking in is Water and crystal lite. This morning I actually got a 4 oz. liquified protien shake down and so far no nausea. I am taking this as a very good sign that things are getting better. I just want to see that scale move. Good luck to all. I am so glad to have this forum.

Don't worry, the scale will begin to move, once the swelling and gas goes down. I didn't weight until two weeks after surgery, because I was swollen, but could tell in my clothes that I was shrinking down. You will see the progress soon!!

Thanks, I needed to hear that. It was getting pretty discouraging. Good luck to you.

Dont worry, the scale will start dropping so rapidly you will not be able to slow it down, Your body is in starvation mode holding on as long as it can to the weight, at some point it will drop dramaticly. Your body has no choice when you are taking in so little calories it can only take from your fat and muscle what it needs.

Thank you for the encouragement. Did you lose a lot so far?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
