Sorry if i sound silly with this, but if we/you could stick with weight watchers why have the sleeve? x

totally true, as so many I tried WW many times - successful, then gained back. Hopefully w/the sleeve if I'm "good" I'll do terrific. My surgery is 12/6/2011. Can't wait - main think i'm afraid of, I hear that the stomach can stretch back, and you can eat too much, then gain the weight back!!! Thats hopefully only if you don't abide by the guidelines, and you do eat the right stuff, and stop when youre supposed to!!! kathy

WW is great and the support is group. However you do need to be aware of their anti-surgery views. I've done WW several times and in different locations each time - and every time they put down people who have "given up" or "not dealt with their real problems" by having surgery. If you have a thick skin and can keep your thoughts about surgery to yourself you will find a wonderful support:)

I think they are OK with it. I found a Community Group for WW who have had bariatric surgery:

I haven't read any of the posts, so no opinion yet.

I don't go to meetings, but I do the online program. It really helps to keep me accountable for the foods that I eat instead of just eating whatever I want in small portions.

I know I am bringing up an old topic, but I wanted to see how you are doing with weight watchers, Sleeve of Steel. I went through a lot of emotional stuff the past six months and went back to my old habits of eating salty, crunchy foods to make myself feel better. Things in my life are wonderful now, but darn, I am having a horrible time breaking that old, awful habit and have gained weight as a result. I am thinking about just doing the online portion to help me keep track of what I am eating. It always worked well for me in the past.

Since going back I have lost 14lbs :) also my roommate has lost 23. I love the online tracker. It really keeps me on track with what I eat. Also I know I'm going to be weighed every week so that's motivating too. Also I'm competitive with my roommate!! He's doing well!

That is great. I know it really helps when you have a "partner" in weight loss too. It is fun to compete with each other, support each other and cheer each other on.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
