FishingNurse 1,211 Posted October 21, 2011 Does anyone still attend meetings with the sleeve?
sleeve 4 me 910 Posted October 21, 2011 I love weight watchers...I was a memeber off and on and off and on forever LOL! It's the best program out there (my opinion). If I needed to lose more weight to get to goal I would probably go, just to be accountable and weigh in weekly
FishingNurse 1,211 Posted October 21, 2011 My roommate wants to lose weight and he said he will go to weight watchers If I go with him, and I was thinking it might keep me motivated if I know I need to weigh in every week!! I am pretty sure I can't eat quite enough points yet-- but in a few months I will??
sleeve 4 me 910 Posted October 21, 2011 Have you ever been to ww? It's so informative. I learned so much about nutrition and about calories, fat, etc. The meetings are so encouraging as well. It can't hurt to go with your friend. I am 14 months out and can definitely eat 1,200 calories and beyond at this point. And even if you can't eat that much now, you will learn habits that will help you for the rest of your life

FishingNurse 1,211 Posted October 21, 2011 Sorry if i sound silly with this, but if we/you could stick with weight watchers why have the sleeve? x I tried it and it worked but I didnt have enough willpower to do it on my own and maintain. Thats why I chose the sleeve. I know with my sleeve I could/ can.
sleeve 4 me 910 Posted October 21, 2011 Sorry if i sound silly with this, but if we/you could stick with weight watchers why have the sleeve? x No worries. Good question. Because I would ALWAYS gain it back ...always, and then some. But now that I have the sleeve, that's what helps me with the most important factor NO HUNGER and WAAAAY SMALLER PORTIONS and now I can put all that wonderful ww knowledge to work. It's truly a miracle tool . I hope that answered your question.

Exactly! The sleeve will be a powerful tool as I stated my reasons. WW meetings are awesome! And I love the fact of checking/weighing in once a week and being accountable. dramagirl28 22 Posted October 21, 2011 I was on again off again with WW before surgery too. One time I lost 70lbs and gained it all back. I plan to join when I get closer to goal just for the accountability of weighing in every week and for the emotional support. Once you get into maintenance the meetings are free, so it's like free weekly group therapy for food issues! Just a tip: don't mention you've had WLS... they tend to get a little aggressive on that topic. As far as the points go, I'm not sure that I'll follow their eating plan. We've got our own dietary guidelines to consider. Just eat what you're comfortable with and enjoy all of the food finds they talk about!
janinemaire 7 Posted October 21, 2011 i agree with sleeve 4 me, ww is such a good program it really teaches you how to make good food choices and helps you with your food demons. True, I would mention wls. Good luck
Papa Jack 86 Posted October 22, 2011 Why waist your money on WW? You are sleeved. You will lose weight. As for will power? There is no such thing. You could not keep the weight off because your body thought you were suppose to be fat. You were fighting your body. With the sleeve it resets the switch in your brain. This is why it works. FishingNurse 1,211 Posted October 22, 2011 That was my only reservation- wasting my money!!! We'll see!
longer-life 139 Posted October 22, 2011 In regards to waisting money, it won't be much if you are close to goal. Like someone else mentioned, meetings are free for life once you reach goal. I see the benefit of attending meetings for the support, "to keep my head in the game", to continue learning different coping tools they teach, the accountability etc. However, not mentioning WLS is not an option for me. I know it would slip! Besides, they would be using me as an example of maintenance and that wouldn't be fair to the ones trying to lose without the sleeve. Has anyone attended meetings and told them about WLS? How did it go? (I'm afraid of the answers. )
