Developing the muscles will help around the legs and arms though if you have not been doing resistance training before you skin will become looser faster than your muscles will develop. Not uncommon to get plastic surgery on the arms, butt and especially the tummy. Woman have another problem. My personal trainer has known a few people with gastric surgery and the real bad loose skin ones get surgeries. Other people I know who had the surgery wear long sleeves and unlike all the billboards for Lap Band they are not about to head to the beach in bathing trunks or a bikini.

I've lost 45 pounds so far. My goal is to lose 115. I am 40 years old. Before surgery, I didn't have any wrinkles or saggy skin -- not even around my eyes.

I am about 9 weeks out from surgery. I now have wrinkles around my eye when I smile. This is especially right under my eyes and the outer edge. My eyes are in more than they used to be.

My belly looks very wrinkly/saggy right now. Some of this is due to four pregnancies but is just more visible since I lost weight.

I was surprised that my upper arms are already showing a little bit of bat wing. When I started, my arms were 14 inches around. I've lost about an inch and a half in each, so it isn't really that much. But there is flabby skin under there now, and I am hoping it doesn't get any worse.

I started lifting weights including exercises that specifically target the back of my upper arms. I am also working on strengthening my core. As for my eyes, I can't do a lot about them. I'm not upset about it. I remember hearing when I was younger that wrinkles show that you had a life that gave you a reason to smile often. Before my surgery, I did sometimes wondered if I hadn't smiled enough although I have a life that should have merited it and now I have the wrinkles to prove it. :)

I should say, I don't think the wrinkles make me look older. I think the weight I've lost in my face actually makes me look younger. Just today someone mentioned she couldn't believe I'm old enough to have a 17-year-old daughter. She thought I was in my late 20s or early 30s. :)

Well, so far I have no wrinkles on my face at age 48 due to my wonderful genes. In fact my mom is a young looking 82. I have been weight training for 6 years, 3 days a week, walking on treadmill 6 days a week.. So I'm hoping that the amount of muscle I have now works in my favor. It's nice to know there are others out there with the same issues. And there is always plastic surgery!!! Thanks. Good luck in your journey!!! :)

I think some if has to do if you have stretch marks or not. Pretty much any place with stretch marks is really saggy on me. I'm down about 120 from my heaviest & I look like Magda from 'There's something about Mary'... just not so tan. Seriously, it's pretty bad. I hit the gym 4 times a week to jog & lift weights. i can see the nice arm muscles, but below is the saggy skin. In my case, I'm hoping to hit goal by February & then maintain for a year & then looking at some reconstructive plastic surgery. I wish I had better news.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
