Hi all, I am just sitting here playing with the clock and calendar and wondering what I'll be eating by my birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. My surgery was 10-03-11, and since I'm still on liquids I feel like I am marking time to get to the next level. I walk, read, surf the net etc., but even though I know it's one day at a time, I wonder what everyone is doing to fill their days beside making shakes, pudding, and taking their Vitamins. I guess going out to eat and being with friends on the wekend is out for a while. So in the meantime I will be doing _____________________. (Please fill in the blank and be nice.) THANKS!

LOL!!! Reading... I love to read!!!

I like your post! I just plugged what I ate today into Fat Secret.com... I try to keep a daily running total of my protien, carbs and calories...and excersise anyway.. I have lost 103 pounds, I still have 88 more pounds to lose and it is coming off very slowly now. However, according to Fat Secret.com if I continue eating and exercising like I am recording, I will be at my goal weight in 5 more months... Now that I can live with!!! One day at a time works great, and sometimes, just sometimes it helps to look at the big picture - for me, it helps me to know what I am doing today, in the long run, 5 months from now I am going to be so much closer to were I want to be!!!

Good Luck to you my friend :D

I was trying to use this site but I cant find where it says if you continue to do what you are doing, you will be at goal in X amount of months thingy. Where do you see that type of information?

At my birthday I (you) will be doing mushy stage diet, mmmm, mashed potatoes. (if its within the next 2 weeks loll .)

At Thanksgiving I will be doing the turkey and enjoying the hell out of it! Protein, Protein, protein! But its the holiday so I will have a small bit of some candied yams too! (There are some really good recipies online for low sugar/carb sweet potatos too, go to Eggface!)

At Christmas I will be doing the holidays in my brand new size and loving it! I will enjoy a meal with my family and have a small desert but be mindful of my calories as I go, I don't want to over do it too much but I want to enjoy the holiday like a normal person too!

:)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
