It's your stomach telling you its too soon for foods. I am 1 week post op, so I haven't gotten there yet, but it is supposed to take me 8 weeks to get to regular foods. According to my doctors plan its is:

Clear liquids (in hospital only)

Full liquids (2 weeks)

pureed Foods (2 weeks)

Mushy Foods (about 3 weeks)

Full Foods

That being said, I doubt I will follow that plan to the letter, but I'm going to stay close to it. I may do mush foods for a little less than 3 weeks because that puts me into Thanksgiving week and I would like to be able to sit down with my family to a normal meal. Also, I know every doctors plan is different, but it seems really soon for the bread and the pepperoni parts of the pizza. Feel better!

I made a mistake of trying 1 of my husbands french fries. Threw it up before it even had a chance to make it to my tummy. Never thought 1 fry would do that, but when your stomach isnt ready it isnt ready.

Yes pork is extrememly hard to digest! I have had several episodes of colitis and my dr told me to avoid pork all together. Even if you have been cleared to eat anything...take it easy pizza is dense and greasy and packed full of fat, carbs and calories. I say add calories and carbs with healthy foods like avacado and pita chips or Protein bars not junk food. Hope you feel better soon.

It could be spice of pepperoni which is a little strong for your stomach at 4 weeks. Also the crust is bread and if the middle part is not toasted then you ate the equivalent of untoasted bread.

At 10 weeks I threw up spicy shrimp. Doctor says what doesn't feel well now, try again later.

I am on regular foods and one day I was strapped for time so I ate a chicken strip (breaded, fried, greasy) figuring, hey, at least it's Protein. WRONG!! I was sooooo sick and lucky to have not thrown it up.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
