Veggestyle 0 Posted July 20, 2006 I was wondering if insurance covers fills. If not, how much can I expect to pay for each fill? Danke!
GayleTX 1 Posted July 20, 2006 This seems to vary greatly among surgeons/clinics/insurance carriers, so there is no one answer to your question. My surgeon's clinic does fills but does not accept ins. for it...costs $150. I get mine done at the clinic where I did my pre-op....my BCBS ins. covers it and I pay only the co-pay for an office visit. Some surgeons include a year's worth of fills after the surgery in their price. You'll need to check your various options and see what works best for you. Dody 0 Posted July 20, 2006 I am on Medicare and my fills are covered for 6 mo. I don't know about other insurance companies at all. I hope you get all the right answers. I am visiting my daughter in Tennessee (where I came for my surgery) and have to travel 3 hrs. to Vanderbilt when I start getting my fills, but I will stay as long as it takes to get everything right, which the Dr. says should not be longer than 6 mo. They also cover yearly check-ups. You didn't say who your insurance company is, God Bless and hope you get all your answers, Dody
Veggestyle 0 Posted July 20, 2006 I have private medical insurance through the school district that I teach in. The name of the insurance company is BSSI. I still have yet to call them and see if they cover the lapband procedure, I am anxious about what they will have to say.
clovermeg 2 Posted August 1, 2006 Is there some kind of procedure code for fills? My surgeon's office includes the first year's worth of fills, but after that they're $100/each and they don't file with insurance. I was just wondering if I could file it on my own? ralheit 1 Posted August 2, 2006 My fills are covered by insurance. I just pay the office visit co-pay. I have Anthem BC/BS. But I guess it varies from state to state.
mousecrazy 2 Posted August 2, 2006 At first, my part was $50, insurance paid the rest. The last fill I had was last week, and I paid nothing. Apparently, I had satisified my deductible or something.... It is totally up to the agreement your school district has with the insurance company. Your doctor's office should be able to tell you. Angelator 0 Posted August 3, 2006 I paid out of pocket for my surgery and I just assumed I had to pay out of pocket for fills, too. I have Blue Cross. Anyone pay out of pocket but then have their fills covered by insurance? That'd be nice! :-)
