Avoiding the subject.....

Recommended Posts

In the begining my co-workers were all so supportive. Now that I'm almost a "normal weight" I see and hear them talking about how I look almost too thin. I am hardly too thin. I am still a work in progress. I contribute all of whispers and finger pointing to that half of them didn't think I could follow through. I would not be able to stick to my daily regimen. I have done a fantastic job in obtaining every little goal that I have set for myself. I have even obtained the admiration of a handful of ladies at work. I see where they are and where I'm at, and I see that they are jealous. Now I am by no means a barbie or a model. I am on my way to becoming comfortable in my own body. I use to look in amazment to the ones that had WLS before me. Now I know how hard they had to work to acheive their new look. I am now in the final quarter mile and I know it will happen. Maybe not this month, but it will happen. I can't even talk to those women as I would more than likely get ugly with them. They have no idea what it takes to go through with surgery number one, then to endure the mental fitness that is required to keep and stay focused as to why you had the surgery to begin with number two. However I overlook the immaturity of grown women and the gossip that flows from their "PIE HOLES". Okay I feel better. Whew, I needed to get that off of my chest. That has been built up for months. Thanks everyone!!! :)

Deb

You go, lady! Try and ignore them if you can. Even if they are not supportive, you are doing what is right for you.

I'm proud of you for getting to your goal! Don't worry about what others say. Words are like dust in the wind. Don't collect the dust, let it blow away. Live and be happy in you. Best Wishes

Just keep focused on doing what you know is good for you, and Celebrate your successes. Don't let a bunch of jealous women affect how you feel.

Congratulations on your results! We here on the forum know how hard it is to effect real change in your life. Way to go! :D

Good for you! And remember this is for YOU, not them, they can go fly kites or whatever they want to fly. . .they are gossiping because they are feeling intimated by you now. . something inside of them is scaring them about you. . . and that is good. . . people are weird that way. . .if something frightens them they try to rationalize by gossiping to make themselves feel better. . . let them, you only work with them, you don't live with them. . . I have the same thing going on here at my work. . . but whatever. . . just look at the source and that in itself should make you feel sooooo much better! Good luck and keep walking the path!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
