Is there ANYTHING that is wrong with me? Scared

Recommended Posts

What I mean is: Is there anything NOT wrong with me?

My labs came back borderline high glucose, extremely fatty liver and through the roof cholesterol.

My ultrasound came back with gallstones.

My mammography came back with a request to get an ultrasound on the left breast.

God knows what the endoscopy will show tomorrow.

I'm afraid my insurance wont cover the surgery because it says age 15-40 or 40 -50 with no diabetes. Does slightly elevated blood glucose mean diabetic.

The surgery coordinator says insurances are only looking for out of control glucose.

I don't know what to think. The coordinator told me, "Thank God you are getting this surgery now." What happens if insurance is denied?

No, it means slightly elevated blood gluclose, possibly pre-diabetic. I am sorry that you have these ailments, but like your coordinator said, good thing you are having the surgery because you can definitely reverse all these things. From what I hear, its common to have the gallbladder removed before wls, so I wouldnt worry about that at all. Stay positive, everything is gonna work out.

Thanks for the support. I had the endoscopy and it showed some erosions and he took a biopsy to rule our Barrett's cardia.

Dang, I'm a mess, but I feel fine basically.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
