surgery on monday

Recommended Posts

My surgery is on monday oct 17th . Im ready to get this part over with. Im nervous that I might get sick and throw up alot after surgery. Did most of you have that happen? The pre op diet was a breeze for me. My Dr had us eat 800-900 calories a day and I bought high protien foods from him. They did not taste great but they did keep me full. I lost great on this. Not sure why the other Drs dont do this . Im feeling nervous over what Im going to feel like when I wake up. Say a prayer for me that all goes well.

My surgery is on Tuesday the 18th. Pre-op diet hasn't been too bad at all. Surprisingly! Wishing both of us the best of success with surgery, recovery and the real work ahead of us!

Good luck to you both. Don't worry about throwing up, you will have nothing in your system. You fast the night before so you stomach is empty for surgery and best you will have is Water, Jello and broth for first few days followed by more liquids.< /p>

Biggest problem I had was not passing gas which causes build up and pain. Speaking of pain, don't wait to ask for medication, use it. I was able to drive day after coming home without problem.

Enjoy the journey to your new body. Looking forward to hearing of you success stories.

In no time you will be enjoying being able to sit comfortably in restaurant booths and having to pull the seat towards the steering wheel :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
