Am I eating too much?????

Recommended Posts

Howdy fellow sleevers! I am 5 weeks out and during the day, eating about 5 oz a sitting. However, in the evening, it seems that I am able to eat more. Is anyone else having this problem? How much is everyone else able to eat? And is anyone feeling HUNGRY because I definitely am. Please help.

Hey Angel,

I don't know if you are eating too much, but I am about 6 weeks out and I can eat what i think is a lot too. For example I could probably eat two boiled eggs and then feel full, but 2-3 hours later I feel hungry again.

My friend who had surgery the same day I did can barely eat a bite or two and she stops because it hurts. I really don't know the answer, but just letting you know you are not alone.

I'm 5 weeks out tomorrow- I can eat about 1-2 ounces a sitting. For instance 3 medium shrimp or half a roll up of one slice deli turkey with hummus spread

and a thin slice of swiss cheese rolled up- or 1ounce shredded chicken with cream Soup sauce but I can eat 3 ounces of chobani yogurt.

I tend to eat something about every 3 hours. It does seem like this week that I can eat a bit more at a time- I'm not sure if that means more swelling

has gone done and I'm healing or if my sleeve is just relaxing more.

I'm only 3 weeks out and I can eat the entire 6 oz of chobani yogurt. Grant it, after that I'm full for the rest of the day, but it's pretty easy going down. I restrict myself because I don't want to overdo it. Also, my tummy let's me know when too much is too much.

OMG! I have been freaking out about this. I'm glad you asked this question. I had surgery September 23rd and am able to eat 5-6 oz at a time. I can eat an entire pudding cup, 5.3 oz of yogurt and can drink about 8 oz of cream of chicken lipton cup of Soup. Is that too much? I don't want to screw up already!

It's the length of you stomach and/or your bougie size . I personally have a long stomach cause im a 34 french and can still eat 5-6oz steak no problems . Just use a calorie counter and don't cheat on it and you'll realize how much of everything your getting in. Right now im trying to stick to 50% protien 30% fats and 20 % carbs and 800-1000 calories per day. Luckily even if i go over the calories or fat or carbs my sleeve changes day to day. So if im not feeling really hungry one day ill adjust and balance for the week which seems to work for me :) Good luck guys and use every tool you can .

Your pretty normal, we all have slightly different size stomachs. Think of it this way, your stomach is the size of a banana so you could eat 5 ounces of meat or a pound of lead and it will still fit in.

I eat a light Breakfast but I can eat a pretty normal dinner - at 7 weeks I had a regular piece of lasagna and still losing weight.

I'm so glad to read that I am not alone in this. I think counting calories is key. I ahve been trying to restrict myself to 3 oz of yougurt or sugar free Jello. I know all of this is a learning process and reading your posts make it that much easier.

Keep up the good work everybody. Much success!

Niki

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
