Why is my port area like this?

Recommended Posts

Okay,

Need your opinions again. My port feels like it is sticking out. I mean it's not sore very much and my incision looks almost like it's not there, (I'll post a pic when dh gets home and takes it) but I mean it looks to me like it's sticking out.

Did any of yours do this. I'm eating more now. Still just puddings and yogurts but lots more, weight loss has stopped but I got a good head start and love your recipe p'nut, thanks. I don't know when I'll get the guts to eat real food, I have this thing about pbing and I'm petrified.

I'm sure I'll get over it, just wondered about my port.

My port incision stood up for about a month post-op. I was just sure it was my port and that something had gone wrong.

When I went in for my first fill I was SHOCKED to learn that my port wasn't even close to the port incision! I was sure I had been feeling it all along. ...scar tissue... The real port was almost 6 inches lower!

In my case, the popped-up port and pregnancy stomach was just swelling and went away with time and lots of Water.

Glad you aren't hurting much.

Brenda

My port sticks out alot. Some days you can actually see it and can touch it, other days you have to look for it. Mine is right at the incision because that is where my doc injects the saline. I don't know why it does this. My doctor says he hasn't had anyone else tell him this. There is no pain, so I just don't worry about it.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
