Genie 0 Posted October 7, 2011 I started getting my info together in February of this year. My surgery is scheduled for Oct. 17th. I have lost 10 lbs so far in the past 4 weeks. My doctor didn't tell me to lose any prior to the surgery. I am getting nervous, but not to the point of backing out. I have battled with being overweight for most of my life. I am tired of the yo-yo of diets. I am excited about getting to have the surgery, getting to the road of recovery and getting to the point to where my hips, knees and back don't hurt. I have been surfing thru this site. I have started purchasing some of the Protein products and budgeting my finances for while I am out. I am a nurse so my doctor says I will be out for 6-7 weeks. He knows that we lift and pull and run constantly. My hubby is very supportive. He is afraid that because I have a tendency to skip meals at work that I will make myself sick. I told him that I would drink Protein Drinks for a meal at work. I have discussed this with my doctor as well and he understands where we both are coming from and agrees that I do need to plan for meals and that the protein drinks could be that meal at work. jillw8 22 Posted October 8, 2011 I am also a nurse an will be returning to work in 2 weeks. I haven't had any problems but I glad I took that much off. Working as a nurse you don't really get to follow lifting restrictions vert well. I wish you the best! I will also be taking quick protein...like string cheese, that I can grab easily. I know we will figure it out. Good luck!
