Sonja 16 Posted October 7, 2011 & to answer my own question... I've told quite a few people. I tend to be very open in general, so it just felt natural to share my concerns & excitement with my friends, family & nursing classmates. (Our nursing class is very close & I consider most of them good friends) Everyone has been nice about it or quiet about it... so that works fine for me. I am doing this for me & nobody's opinion is going to change that at this point. I just let my light shine!
ITSMEMRSJ 3 Posted October 7, 2011 Hi, I told EVERYONE (Family, friends, co workers)! There is no shame in my game. They were all excited some nervous about the surgery aspect, but no negative comments. 1 Driver Deb reacted to this
Jolie_KeMi 345 Posted October 7, 2011 I feel the same way I felt when I found out I was pregnant. I wanted to share the great news with everyone, but also wanted to be a bit discreet. Someone who is struggling with their weight may need to see that you are making this decision for yourself, and that lead them in the direction to researching and considering WLS. I have a friend who got a LapBand Sept 2010. After she got it she told me about it and that got me researching, which ended up here at getting a sleeve a little over a year later. (She is not happy with the LB & is considering VSG.) After the weight comes off, people are gonna ask anyway...*shrug*
k__ 3 Posted October 7, 2011 I tell, tell, tell. More often than not, either the person I tell has something helpful to tell me too, or I find that the person I tell wants to know more for themselves, or a friend who may be interested in the procedure. I want positive people in my life, and this is just another way to confirm it, imho!

lessofme2010 25 Posted October 9, 2011 Told My husband , teen age daughters and two VERY close friends... I may tell more after , but I have found I REALLY don't want peolples coments good or bad mostly bad at this time. Too many I believe would have negative coments.. When all is said and done ..Well what can they say?? Julie
Felicia 28 Posted October 13, 2011 Told my BF and my Mom. That's it because everyone else in my family and my Bf's are too judgemental and I don't want the stress. Oh and the GNC guy last night LOL he was helping me find Protein powders.< /p>
legnarevocrednu 47 Posted October 13, 2011 To tell or not to tell? I'm having the same problem! By the way, I have surgery two days before you! Anyways, I have told mostly everyone...except 2 people. The reason being is that when my sister had her bypass a couple of years ago, those two people shared their negative opinions with me about it. I don't want to hear it. I'm also EXTREMELY nervous about being asked how I lost weight so quickly. I don't want to lie, but I also don't want to tell these certain people about the surgery. It's odd, but that's my most major concern after surgery.
gonnagetthere 2 Posted October 13, 2011 I wasn't going to tell but sometimes I was so excited I couldn't hold it in! Other times people figured it out on their own and asked. It's difficult to hide what is going on when you are only eating 2 or less ounces at dinner. To tell or not to tell?
