A little about me.

My name is Ronda, I'm 28 and I have my surgery date on Oct 31st. I'm excited, scared, nervous but ready.

I have 3 kids and have been married for 7 1/2 years. My husband is in the Marine Corp so he will be deploying soon after my surgery but will be coming back home to a new wifelaugh.gif

I'm excited to go through this process with you all.

Welcome, Honey! So glad you came to join us!! I have a little boy and my hubby works nights, so I'm sort-of by myself, but nothing like the valuable sacrifice you and your family make for our country!

Look forward to sitting on the loser's bench with you!!

Hi Ronda!

I will be going in for my sleeve on the 19th. I am 32, have two little boys and I live in a remote community in the Yukon. My husband is a nurse, so I get the benefit of some good medical care at home after my surgery!

Your husband is going to be some surprised when he returns! How long will he be deployed for?

Kara

Kara, how far up in the Yukon are you? I am having my surgery in Seattle, too, but I live here, but I am originally from BC. Glad you will have good care when you get home since are up there a ways! How old are your boys? Mine's 2 1/2.

Hey Ronda!

Congrats on getting sleeved soon. I am due for it on the 17th. I live in TX and am the wife of a former US Navy man. I totally know what it feels like when your guy is deployed. My dh was deployed for 7 months during Op Desert Storm. I lost a bunch of weight while he was gone and he came home to a happier, more energetic me. Boy was that fun! Unfortunately, over the years I gained it back plus some but this will be my LAST time to lose it and I'll spend the rest of my life keeping it off! Anyway, my hubby was deployed for long stretches many times so I empathize with how things are for you when he is gone. I'll say a special prayer for your marine and for you! i have several in-laws in the service now.... marines, navy and army at the moment. It's tough times for our military right now. I am glad your guy can be here for the surgery.

Just sayin hey and good luck!

I am originally from BC too! I grew up near Dawson Creek, went to University in Prince George and then another year of University in Castlegar (remote UBC program).

I am now living in Faro (4 hours NE of Whitehorse). We have lived in the NWT and also in a fly in only community in Nunavut too.

My boys are 2 and a half and 4!

Where are you having your surgery at?

We decided to go private clinic b/c the wait lists are so long. But the only private clinic doing the sleeve in Canada is all the way out in Montreal. Much too far to travel. So I found a clinic in Washington! Much closer.

I started my pre-surgery diet at 319 and am down 8lbs so far. I have been overweight my entire life. This is going to be quite the change!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
