Breakstone's Cottage Cheese

Recommended Posts

Love cottage cheese! thenry, thanks for the recipe for the pancakes - I'll definitely be trying those this weekend :)

FunnyD, bought the 4oz/4 pk Breakstones recently... I like them because they're individual containers and I can grab one to take with me to work. While a bit more expensive than the large container, I'll probably waste less and therefore save more buying the 4 pk. I was banded in Oct 2005, so it just goes to show you we can all learn from each other! While I'm very frugal, I'm slowly realizing that I can't purchase food like I used to. And, I'm love to find new snack sizes to take to work for the times I have a bit of head hunger. Beats going to the snack machine for those evil peanut m&ms!!

Another Breakfast fave of mine is .... grits. But, I can only eat a few spoonfuls... I might have to try making them with a bit more liquid, or remove them from the heat before they firm up like I usually prefer.

Do you guys have any good Feta recipes? I'm feeling like I need a bit more lunch variety.

thanks!

I bet that was it....will try the 2%....thanks!!

I bought the cottage doubles(2%) Breakstone with cottage cheese and pineapple....I threw it away, but I was only trying cottage cheese on your recommendation 3 Loves :) I hate cottage cheese...really I hate it, but I did give it a try. I'm sure that it is wonderful for those that like cottage cheese but those curds gave me the creeps :target:

Funny...I mix that little cup of 2% with 2 tablespoons of meat flavored spaghetti sauce and 2 tablespoons of grated low-fat parmesan cheese and microwave it a bit. Tastes like lasagna without the Pasta. You can put a little low-fat/part skim mozzarella too yummmy. Certainly helped me during my mushy stage...for those that don't like curds...puree it in your food processor. Yummy yummy and simple.

I have had the doubles, which is handy, but I didn't find them as good as the snack size 2% without the fruit. Seemed like the cottage cheese is more watery in the doubles and I can't stand watery cottage cheese.

Doty ~ You made me laugh out loud. Creepy Curds, huh? :Banane56: I love cottage cheese, it's a staple in my diet. Last night I had cottage cheese & tomatoes with a touch of pepper. Tonight I'm going to look for those yummy grape tomatoes b/c last night it was Roma and those skins were too tuff for me to eat.....had to eat the insides. I can see tiny green tomatoes on my plant & can't wait for them to be ready.

leatha ~ There is nothing worse than runny cottage cheese. YUCKO!! Talk about creepy curds.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
