Being sleeved 10/7/11

Recommended Posts

Don't know if I am excited, nervous, apprehensive unsure.gif. Surgery itself doesn't bother me it will be my 5th in 6 years for one reason or another. I usually bounce back quick. What if this doesn't work? I have tried everything else and have lose up to 70 lbs doing things like WW but I fall back into old habits and gain it back. I go back to eating not healthy AND eating way too much. What if I fail again? What if I fail again? .....

I think you will find the results will give you the willpower to succeed. My progress has kept me from falling off the wagon. I know you have heard this before but there is no better feeling than being in shape. Follow your surgeons instructions and develope a good exercise program. You will do great.

Congrats on your upcoming surgery!

If truth be told, I bet each one of us had thoughts similiar to your going through our heads b/4 surgery. I wanted this surgery so desperately, and to this day I am so thankful that somehow I made the choice I made and had the surgery.

I owe a large portion of my success on determination ... I was determined not to fail, I knew this is it....this was my last option and I needed to do it.

Make your mind up on what you want, make your mind up that this is going to turn your life around and lead you on the path you want to take for a healthier you..... If you have the determination and drive to to this...and you follow doctors advise, you will succeed...

It is hard, you will be tempted to stray...but stay strong until you reach goal!!!

Good Luck

Shamrock, welcome! I do think we all feel that way as we have all failed so miserably, and so often, with every other diet. But, from what I've read, it's pretty to NOT be successful with the sleeve. I mean, anyone can sabotage it and eat through it, but I don't believe that most of us do/will - not like with the band.

Come and join our October Sleevers group! We are all in the same month, so we will all be on the loser's bench together at the same time and can heal, learn, and support each other through this! October 2011 Sleeers. Hope to see you there!! I'll add you to the roster!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
