Nochoice's Band Date!

Recommended Posts

:clap2: :clap2: CONGRATS Nochoice on your Aug 29th Band Date!!!!!:first:

Some info for Dr. Singh...

You stay overnight depending on your insurance... but both my mom and I stayed overnight and am thankful to stay overnight because it is a bit harder than we thought it would be and are thankful to have had it.

We don't have a pre-op or a bowel cleansing THANK GOD! Just the 2 week liquid diet and then mushies for 2 weeks and then solids. I just had my post-op on monday and he put me on mushies 2 days early so don't fret! You can have creamy Soups, broth, Jello, pudding, with cool whip, and juice- anything you can suck through a straw without using one. It isn't too bad because you really aren't hungry. Just make sure to drink that Water. I got constipated 2 weeks out! It hurt a LOT so be careful!

Cut up those pills, and take your Vitamins like Arlene tells you- you know the drill by now...

I will say to bring a pillow for the car ride home- the hospital doesn't give you one, and get some liquid tylenol for afterwards. And wear slip on shoes!!! I decided- like my mom, not to wear a bra home and just wore pajamas to the hospital. No big deal...

By the way, congrats!!!! and good luck!

Yeah Nochoice, glad to hear you have a date. I sure wish you well on that long ride home. I had to ride from DC to Waldorf and thought I would die. Good luck to you.

The pre-op class just tells you about what to do before the surgery- i.e. what medicines to stop taking, what you should bring to the hospital, and what to expect during the surgery. It was a good class but I was surprised at how many people at the class were not ready for the surgery.. so don't get frustrated! :)

I'm not, just wondering. Do you have to go on all liquids before the surgery, I have read that some people go on all liquids up to 2 weeks before surgery.

Nope, just no eating solids after 8pm the night before and nothing after 12 midnight. But we were both careful not to eat too much greasy or gassy food a few days before to help with afterwards. ;)

Congratulations and Good Luck

I did have the liquid diet for about a week before surgery. Although your doctor does not demand a bowel clense, I would suggest a good cleaning out before surgery. On the boards it seems to cut down on the shoulder pain gas. Be sure to have chewable gas xxtra strength on hand for when you get home.

The pillow a must, my hosptial gave me pillow, thank God because it was a long bumpy ride home from Fairfax to MD.

YES DON'T forget to take a pillow with you or have it in the car... our doc doesn't hand out the pillows for the ride home.

I'm doing good! I just had my first fill- not bad at all, and am about to head back to NYC on Monday for school... :)

I even survived a Ravens Game last night... didnt get too tempted from the beer and junk- I actually got kind of grossed out by it.

I no longer have pain- haven't in a few weeks, and life is as normal as its gonna get. I'm joining a gym in NYC and thought I had a personal trainer, but she is leaving NYC so I have to find another one!

Good luck and don't be too nervous... Dr. Singh is a great doc - as you already know! :)

I'm feeling pretty good, very sore but good!!! I don't seem to have much gas and could almost have diaherra. Still taking anti-nausea and pain meds. I have only been sipping on Water, grage juice and hot tea until today I had a Protein Shake and that was great!!:kiss2:

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
